Urbana University’s men’s and
women’s basketball teams are looking to bounce back this winter from last
season’s performances with their returning veterans and newcomers.
The men’s basketball team is
entering its second season under the leadership of head coach Rob Summers.
Coach Summers helped last year’s team improve its record by six wins over the
2013-2014 team’s 0-27 record.
The team has six players returning
from last year, including leading scorers Carlas Jackson (13.3 points per
game,) and Matt Csuhran (11.1 ppg.) Also returning for the team is Mike Newton
(8.5 ppg,) along with Chris Freeman, Armanni Garnett, and Demetrius Carr, all
three of whom red-shirted last season.
The Blue
Knights Men’s Basketball team is also welcoming seven newcomers this season:
Zach Arrasmith, Peebles, Ohio; Jahmere Howze, Warrensville Heights, Ohio;
Justin Johnson, Cleveland, Ohio; Caleb Mitchell, Bellefontaine, Ohio; Austin
Adams, Oregon, Ohio; Colin Curran, McKinney, Texas; and Kevin Fisher, Columbus,
Ohio. Also new to the team this season is Tyler Ptacek, a transfer student from
Evansville.
The home
opener for the men’s basketball team is on November 18th, when they

The Blue Knight’s Women’s
Basketball team is also starting its second year under the leadership of Head
Coach Haley Ducey. Coach Ducey is looking to help her team bounce back from
last year’s 1-28 record.
This
season’s squad has seven players returning from last season, including second-leading
scorer Kennedy Boggs (12.3 ppg,) and third-leading scorer Jeni Jordan (11.5
ppg.) Also returning for the team is Brittany Atkinson (3.1 ppg,) Alyssa
Kennedy (3.3 ppg,) Stefanie Davis (7.7 ppg,) Tori Purk (9.9 ppg,) and Ariana
Harper, who redshirted last season.
The team
also has six new additions to this season’s roster: Caitlin Stone,
Proctorville, Ohio; Jennifer Allen, Huber Heights, Ohio; Erin Morrow, Van Wert,
Ohio; Megan Beachy, Millersburg, Ohio; Jazymn Haley, Bellefontaine, Ohio; and
Danie Shafer, a transfer student from Maryville University.
The home
opener for the women’s basketball team is on November 23rd, when
